Emerging evidence showed that dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in cancer including leukemia. In this review, we summarized recent progress on the role of miRNAs in leukemia, mainly focusing on recent findings that suggest the potential of miRNAs as biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis. Notably, the circulating miRNAs were also discussed for the fact that they can be detected in body fluids, and thus represent a novel source of promising biomarkers that may be applied to clinical settings.
